Monday Library/ Park

Ok I know this picture stinks, but hey! It is a picture!
We went to the library this morning, forgetting that there is no more story time until the middle of June! We ended up getting 2 movies, one about trains and the other about firetrucks. And we still have the farm one too. We also got books about a flamingo(Hi! Pop-Pop!), friends, spring weather, and a dump truck.

After the kids were done at the library we went to one of the parks nearby. The kids played on the playground equipment for a bit but then just didn't seem into it. So I walked them down to the field and we threw around these kite/frisbee things for a while. Jaycob is getting really good at figuring out how to throw them, its kinda tricky!

Nothing Special

Went to the library this morning.

Kids participated in song and dance.

Jaycob told me he had to "Dee-dee" and he did.

Didn't get any books, just the one Farmer DVD they LOVE!!

Went to the park.

Pretended to ignore Kaylee.

Jaycob said he wanted to go "Dee-dee" again and he did.

Came home had lunch and naps.

Went for a walk around the neighborhood.

Jaycob flirted with some ladies planting flowers.

Had a snack while watching the monkey movie (Curious George).

Very Good!!

We went to the library this morning, even though the last two times have not gone well. I was actually debating not going at all, but I figured ahhh what's the worst that could happen?? A repeat of the previous performances... Not to bad in the realm of things and Abygail still enjoys herself no matter how Jaycob acts...

We went, picked out some books, went into story time, came out and played with some of the other kids!

During story time, this week, Jaycob was very good. We sing the same song every week at the beginning and he did all the movements that went with that. Then he actually listened to the story and drank his juice (small meltdown here because I didn't understand he wanted his juice). After the story they did a finger play that went along with it, he tried to join and follow along with that! And another 2 songs that he had never heard before he tried singing and doing the movements. At the end we always do twinkle twinkle and he sang and did all the movements to that too!! Since we hadn't stayed for the last few times we hadn't heard the story or all the songs in between, but there was Jaycob like he's heard them all before!!

So, yeah, this week went MUCH better then it has in a while! We got some books, no video this week... Since I haven't posted lately the books we've been checking out I've had a few people ask (you know who you are!!)... We have moved from all board books to a mix of board and "real" page books!! Here's our list for this week:

• Peek-A-Boo! by Roberta Grobel Intrater - this book has real baby faces that Aby loves.
• Little Piglet by Nicola Smee - simplistic story of a day in a piglets life.
• Green by Moira Anderson - has real pictures of green items and talks about them. Jay so far has had the Blue and Yellow books and LOVED them.
• I'll Catch the Moon by Nina Crews - I haven't read it yet. Just know that it has a lot of pictures of the moon, something Jay is really into right now!

Monday Again & Moron Monday

First off... Business... Go tell your moronic story over at Rachel's... Go... Now!!

We did go to the library this morning. I was quite a bit leery after last week's episode, but we went anyways! You'll never guess who showed up... Kaylee and her mommy! Kaylee's wonderful mommy remembered me saying at some point that we're usually at the library on Monday mornings so she brought Kaylee up!! Jaycob actually recognized her. He followed her with his eyes and at the same time ignored her, you know how guys are!! Whenever Kaylee danced during story time Jaycob just had to tell me about, it was all too funny!

After story time Kaylee and her mommy decided they were going to go to the park. I decided we were going to tag along. We tagged right along to park that we haven't been to before!! Just as close as the other one we go to, but in my opinion better!! Thanks Melissa for showing us that park!!!

The kids had a blast! Jaycob did get in trouble for throwing wood chips. Both liked the swings, though I wish they had more. Abygail loved climbing up and down the steps way up high. And Jaycob did find a slide he was comfortable with and went down it by himself quite a few times! Oh and me... I liked going to the park and having someone to talk to other then a 1 and 2 year old!!! Another mommy.. Oh it was great! There might even be a repeat performance tomorrow!!

Anyway... They're both in bed and sound asleep... I think I may just do the same!!

One of Those Days

The title to this post is supposed to be 'Library Monday' or something to that effect.... But its been one of those days....

We headed to the library as usual with no fuss. The kids played with the other kids as we waited for toddler story time. When it was our turn we went in and sat down just fine. While the librarians talked about the events in the library Jaycob asked about when we were going to sing and dance. I told him just a minute, he was fine. Time comes to sing and dance and Jaycob and Abygail are merrily clapping and dancing. Then all of a sudden Jaycob stops and starts SCREAMING!!! Kind of a weird screaming,something I really haven't heard before. He was obviously upset about something, but what??

Not the song he wanted to sing? Well, normally he would have just said, "No. No. No!" if that was the case.
He didn't want me to clap and dance? He would have said, "No Mama".
He didn't want the other kids to dance around him? He would usually just tell them no and keep close to me!

I never did figure it out. I just ended up grabbing both of them and leaving. Much to Aby's dismay. She was behaving and enjoying herself greatly!!

We got into the van and Jaycob was fine, so I thought perhaps he just wasn't in the mood for story time today.I asked him if he was ready to go home and he said, "no". So I asked him if he wanted to go get his haircut and he shook his yes.

The whole way there he was pulling and pretending to cut his hair. He was happy as we waited for our name to be called. Got his sucker and sat in the chair, then all of a sudden freaked out again!
Same sort of screaming/freaking out.

We ended up leaving there as well. With no hair cuts and no sucker!

Don't know where it came from either time, nor had I ever seen him act this way before!

Maybe it had something to do with his sleep, or lack there of, this morning??

Screecher

So, yeah, we went to the library today....

The nasty mean librarian came over and yelled at us 3 different times. Ok 'us' isn't right, I'll admit she yelled at me!! Mean librarian!!

Abygail has this habit of screeching. Most the time its when she's having fun and not to much of a big deal. The screeching at other times, like when she's angry or whatever, we've been trying to discourage.

At the library she was happy! Very happy!! She was screeching. Very loudly and continuously!! I tried to get her to stop. You're supposed to be quiet in the library. But by me showing her attention, by the librarian showing her attention, made it even more fun to screech...

We ended up leaving, giving mean librarian lady a mean dirty look on the way out!!

Library Monday

We went to the library today, the first time since a couple weeks before the holidays. Usually we'd go for both the baby and toddler story times. But I realized this week that Abygail is now over 12 months old, thus making her too old for baby story time! We were there at the library when they rang the bell for the babies and it made me kinda sad to see all the mommies and their babies going in... My little one is obviously no longer a baby!

Both Jaycob and Abygail really enjoyed going back to the library. I had to kind of review our library voices with Jaycob and try to teach them to Abygail, but hey that's why they have a children's library!!! Jaycob kept signing "book" and saying "choo-choo" so we went on the hunt for train books. Since they've completely rearranged the shelves and order of things that was a task in itself!! But, we did walk away with a "choo-choo book"!! We also came away once again with "Big Red Barn" and Abygail was thrilled with that choice!!

Our morning had more adventure and activity in it then we're used to lately and you could really tell. About an hour before nap time Abygail passed out cold on the couch!! And Jaycob was more then willing to go up for his nap more then 30 minutes earlier then usual!!

Big Red Barn is indeed written by the same author as 'Goodnight Moon'... It is Abygail's absolute favorite at this point I would say. This is the 3rd time we've checked it out since we found the library. She keeps picking it out of all the other board books... AND she'll sit still for all of it and ask you to re-read it usually 3 times in one sitting!!


Jaycob is starting to interact more with the other children and adults at storytime. Though most the time it's to give back a cup that has rolled away. There are these two little girls (twins) that he just happens to adore, but you can tell he's too shy to talk to them!! Too cute
