No More Cribs...

Yep, she did it today. In much the same way her brother did to us a year and some change ago! Abygail has never tried climbing out of her crib, but she did it today twice! Actually three times, but....
The first time... She was put down for a nap and about 30 minutes later there was a scream from up there. Daddy went up thinking just a foot was stuck or something. Nope! She was standing there in the middle of the room!!!!
The second time... I had laid her back down for her nap after the first escape. She had only been down for 30 minutes before so I was momentarily ignoring that she climbed out. She needed a nap! She slept. I heard her wake up so I sent Jaycob up to say hi and entertain her for a minute, as I often do. Next thing I knew I heard two sets of feet running around up there! UHHHHGGG!
The third time... I then took her and put her back in the crib. I wanted to see how she was doing it. There's one of those round pop-up hampers next to her crib so I wanted to see if maybe she was using that as a step. If so then it would be an easy fix, move the hamper! But nope she wasn't using it.

So we ended up taking the front of her crib off today. I'm kinda sad. I don't have any more fully assembled cribs in my home. A lot of crib pieces, but no whole cribs! The only thing we have left is diapers and school... :-(

How did she go to bed in her new big girl bed you ask??? Well, at first we walked in her room and she started saying, "No bed, crib now" "Crib now, where's crib?". But after a little talking she laid down and fell asleep pretty quickly! Never heard another peep from her. But we'll see how she does all night! I'm betting there will be a little one trying to climb in bed before morning!

UPDATE 2/25: Well, good thing I'm not much of a betting person. We did not end up with a little girl in our bed. She actually slept in her bed all night. This morning she actually slept in until 8am, which is sleeping in for her lately! I'm sitting here and I hear her little squishy butt coming down the stairs. No whining or crying up in her bed. And coming down the stairs she looked so proud of herself!! I've got a big girl on my hands here, watch out!!

  1. Way to go, Aby! What a big girl!!!

Elianna had a FIT when I took the side off her crib to make it into a daybed. She flatly refused to sleep in it unless I "put it back together." So, here she is, almost three... and back in a crib!!! *sigh* I am thinking I will just have to get her a whole new bed altogether, so she can't be shocked and appalled at the change in her own bed. She doesn't "do" change.
