Sand Instead of Concrete

Today we went to the beach instead of the pool. G-G-ma and G-G-pa tried to take us to a section of beach that was super calm and super shallow, but the road was closed to that section. Driving down to the beach looked just like driving in the Outer Banks, NC. Anyway... We decided to stay anyway. The kids actually got their feet wet and wanted to weighed in a bit further, but the waves were pretty strong and I wasn't comfortable with that. I know mean mommy! But here's a few pictures!

I guess this is all damage from Hurricane Ivan! Look at all those trees!!
ETA: We did end up at the pool later in the evening, just no pics!

Rainbow

This was after a huge storm we had. The kids stayed up a little later because of the thunder and lightening. We finally put them to bed and Daddy left only to call back and tell me that there was a huge rainbow out there. I ran upstairs to show the kids and not meaning to I woke them both up!! But they got to see it and loved it!

Snow Day

First! For Aspen!

Today was a snow day! Jaycob doesn't normally have school on Mondays anyways, but Daddy got the day off of work too! The weather people guessed a good 6"-12" and we got it all!
We took out the kids this morning to play. I have to tell you it was a pain to find clothes that were going to keep them warm enough and dry enough. Even after the fact, Jaycob's feet were soaking wet when we came in! Poor guy!

Above: Our little snow piles. The snow was just packy enough to make these and snowballs, but anything bigger it would just fall apart. Daddy and I were kinda disappointed because we wanted to make a snowman. Me, Abygail, and Jaycob making snow angels! Below: Abygail just had to go down the slide! I think she ended up with a back full of snow to tell you the truth!

I have no idea what I was doing here in this second picture!

23rd Randomness

Us adults were trying to get pictures of all the kids together, but little Miss Thang here really wanted no part of it!!

On our way from one place to another we stopped and I took these cool pictures of this storm that was chasing us!

Park

After our fun morning with Cousin E and Cousin S, Grandma took us for lunch and a little outdoor time at a nearby park!!
Jaycob LOVED this sand digging thing and spent all his time here actually!
And Abygail was my little daredevil this time around. She walked across all of these suspended steps and then went down this slide. This slide, might I add, that was the steepest slide I have ever seen in my whole life!!
We also got to see this whole family of geese. The kids thought it was great that all the babies swam in a line like this.

First Snow

Ok so we got our first snow for this year! The kids were so excited!! Jaycob kept saying, "Cold clouds, no sun!" I tried telling him SNOW clouds, but hey.....

11:20 AM

11:30 AM

11:50 AM

Finally there was enough snow on the ground that I decided to get the kids all bundled up and take them out! Neither one of them knew what to do at first, but I edged them off the porch and got them playing! One of the first things Jaycob wanted was his car though. I don't know what gave him the idea to want to run his car through the snow, but he didn't want to do anything else until he could make tracks in the snow!

Abygail wouldn't go down the slide until Jaycob did and then when she did go down she was quite upset to find out that her pants got cold and wet! Like the good mother I am I told her to suck it up!! We ended up around back and I showed the kids how to make a snowball! As you can see she was thrilled about this!

Jaycob ended up being a pro at making snowballs. He started making snowballs and throwing them at the door where Oreo was standing looking at us! Abygail loved packing the bucket full of snow and making snow castles, which Jaycob would then promptly run over and smash to smithereens. They both thought this was quite hilarious!

I, of course, couldn't help but to make two little snowmen of my own! Jaycob got it in his head that it would be funny to throw snowballs at my snowmen. So I ended up making him his own 'target' snowman on one of the other porch rails!
