Just Realized

So I just realized that the school Jaycob will be attending next year is considered a year-round school... Not so sure how I feel about this. They start in the middle of August and get out the second week in June. So really its just an extra month... But looking at the calendar for this year they need to start that early just to cover all the vacation they get off for the main holidays! I mean they get just about 3 weeks for the Christmas/ New Year's holiday!!

Still pondering how I feel about this... Any comments?

I Thought We Were Going to Make it...

I thought we were going to make it through our toddler years without anything going up the noses! I was wrong...

Scene: Me here on my computer as usual. Jaycob in bed. Daddy in his room working on homework. Abygail wathing Dora downstairs eating a box of raisins...

Next thing I know I hear her whining, "Fruit stuck, Mama! Fruit stuck". Well, normally this just means that she can't reach the raisins at the bottom of the box and I ignore her and she ends up getting them like a big girl by herself. But... There's always a but... She starts coming up the stairs still whining. I turn around to help her and she hands me the box. Well, there's only 3 raisins down there and I kinda joke her about she could have done it and hand her back the box. She just calmly looks at me and tells me, "No, Mama, fruit stuck here!" as she shoves her finger up her nose!! AHHHHHHHHHHH.... Nooooooooooo......

Yep, I grab her arm to make sure she doesn't shove it up there further and take her down to Daddy! He's talking to her while I go and get some tweezers. He tells her to hold really still and he's going to hold her head while I get the raisin. I thought for sure soon as the tweezers hit her little nose hairs she would start fighting it. But she held perfectly still the whole time! And even proceeded to laugh as I pulled the raisin out of her nose!!

Yeah, we had a nice little "nothing goes up your nose" talk with her after that!

Sleeping Son

He passed right out!

1st Real Beach Day

Well kinda the first... No swimming yet, the water is too cool yet! But we played in the sand and threw rocks into the water! We weren't there any where near as long as I was hoping. Jaycob got freaked out by the flies :( At first Abygail wouldn't put her feet in the sand, but as you can see she learned to love it! The kids and I had the biggest hole dug out, it was so cool! The kids thought it was the greatest!

Itsy Bitsy

Abygail and I sing Itsy Bitsy Spider all the time with the movements and everything. Once in a while Jaycob will join in and add his own spin. Here's what it sounds like.... Jaycob's singing in ( )

Abygail and I: The itsy bitsy spider (Oh no bug!) went up the water spout (watch out!)

A and I: Down came the rain (Awww spider all wet) and washed the spider out (Bye spider, all gone)

A and I: Up came the sun (spider get all dry) and dried up all the rain (puddles gone)

A and I: And the itsy bitsy spider (climb, climb, climb) went up the spout again (agaaaaaain)

It was Daddy's birthday, but who do you think got presents??

Actually I bought Aby's on Black Friday, thinking of giving them BOTH bikes for Christmas. But only one bike could be found. So we were waiting for another good sale and it just happened to be this weekend! So they got bikes for Daddy's birthday!

Daddy Loves Us!

Daddy and I were talking about buying this when we seen it super cheap in a sales paper. Jaycob bugged us about it all week! But today Daddy went out shopping and ended up bringing this home for the kids!! They had so much fun!!

And I love it because its soooo easy and quick to put up and take down!!

Girl on the Move

I found these roller skates for like $.75 at the thrift store!! Abygail LOVES them! She had just fallen down right before these pictures so she doesn't look like she loves them. But this is one of the first things she asks to do when we get outside now.

What Are These Plants?

I'm no green thumb... SO please tell me what kind of plants these are and what I should be doing with them! I just know this first one grows back like a weed! I pulled them all up last fall and within two weeks they were back with flowers and all!!

This one I didn't pull up last fall. But come this spring it has all kinds of new growth coming in... The one on the other side of the bed is 3 times bigger!

Just tell me what they are and what I should be doing with them! Please? Anyone?

Abygail's Allergy Test II

We were able to go to Aby's allergy appointment this morning! I wasn't so sure what to expect, but we made it through!!

First, they got a whole lot of info from us. Then the allergist came in and went over all the info. Next, the assistant came back in and did the allergy test. This is the part I was unsure of how they were going to do it. I mean they told us scratch test, but how do they scratch?? Well, we found out and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be! They used something like this skin prick method. Except they had already put the allergen on the 'tray', our pricky thing was made of all sharp plastic (no needles involved. I'm sure it still hurt though), and it was all done on her back.

They tested for a total of 24 allergens. Well 22 with 2 control sites. We had to sit for about 20 minutes to see what her skin would do. My rave for this place though is that they brought us a nice little portable DVD player and we got to watch Dora and Blue's Clues while we waited! She thought that was pretty cool and talked about it a lot!

They rated your allergic reaction on a 1-5 scale. Abygail it seems is a 4 for peanut butter. A 3 for fish. And a 2 for cat, Dust mite dust, milk, and a dirt/leaf mold. So its NO peanut butter for Abygail!

The milk one is the surprising one. I mean she's drank at least 16oz of milk since she was 1. Anyway he would like us to do a 2 week elimination trial. He said it may just be that it gives her a runny nose or an upset tummy. So we'll work on that. The cat and dust mite one is kinda obvious. The mold one he said to not let her rake leaves or play in the dirt and if anyone in the house does either they are to shower right away... Though once again this is more of a watery-eye, sinus type reaction she would have to these activities. None of these smaller ones are an anaphylactic reaction so obviously we'll do what we can, but we're not going to put her in a plastic bubble to prevent her from coming into contact with them!

4/13 - We're working on switching her to the soy milk. She wasn't so fond of it straight up so we're mixing it for right now. Hopefully we'll be able to start the 2 week test soon!

To Bed I Go!

Abygail asked to go to bed a good hour before normal nap time. I told her to go expecting her to be back down in a few minutes. About 20 minutes later I thought it was mighty quiet up there. This is what I found!!
Note: She's done this a few times since. From what my in-laws have said Daddy used to do this all the time too!

Assessments III

We had our next appointment for Jaycob's testing today! Jaycob was noticing all the blossoming trees on our way there and to his delight there was a tree right in front of the building we were going in. The wind was blowing as we were walking toward the door and he called the falling blossoms 'snow'!! For the little things to make you so happy!!

Anyway... The woman just sat him down in a chair and showed him and bunch of picture and asked to him tell her what they were. Sometimes they would talk about the pictures more too. He did really well. He knew what they all were and said them all except the picture of the zipper. He knew what it was for, but not what it was called. I mean he told her "its cold, put on my coat, warm". I guess that's more our fault then anything!! I mean we don't ever call it a zipper, think about it. You tell a kid to "Zip up your coat". Not "do your zipper" or something like that!! He did really well with the size ratio concept and the colors.

The only thing is after a while I think he was messing with her! He was saying the one picture of a car was one color and I know he knows it was blue!! And than he told her an umbrella was a bowl (forgot to tell you that one Mom). I also know he knows what an umbrella is... I think he was just getting bored and decided to mess with her or something!!

The woman did ask me if he eats just fine. Well of course he does. He's a little piggy and always has been. She asked him to move his tongue in all kinds of ways and the only one he couldn't do was make his tongue go up! It seemed he was doing it sometimes to say certain words, but not most the time! She also said that most the time people can't understand him is because he talks really really fast!! Something he has in common with Older Sister!

But all in all she said he did really good. Now once again I'm just waiting for some more paperwork to show up in the mail!
