Back to the Concrete!

Ok so in this pic I don't remember where we were going (remember I'm back-dating here!) but I thought it was a cute picture.

And then take a look at this... They're both away from the edge of the pool 'swimming'!

We're Here in Alabama

Well, we're here safe and sound. The rest of our trip in was pretty uneventful. The kids started saying they were done in the truck when we only had about 90 minutes to go. Not too bad I thought!

Today we headed to the pool. I was kinda worried because last summer the kids would barely walk in a foot and a half of water. But actually they did really well. They kinda stuck to the steps, but they did really well!

To Grandmother's House We Go!

G-G-ma and G-G-pa came in from Michigan during Jaycob's promotion yesterday, part of the reason he decided NOT to ride the bus home. They came in to visit because we then got up this morning to all drive to Alabama!! Yep, we're road tripping all the way to Alabama, without Daddy to top it off!

One of the stops we made for potty and maps was at a welcome center that was also a train station. We thought it would be cool if Jaycob actually got to walk across real railroad tracks. He was so excited about it all. But while talking to the guy there we discovered that a train was actually due to stop in about 15 minutes! So we decided to wait. It ended up being longer then that, but it was well worth it! A train came through all right, but it wasn't the train that was stopping it was just a cargo train with all the boxcars. He was so thrilled about that! Then the train that was supposed to come through came in and he actually recognized the CSX engine from one of the DVD's he has. It stopped and we watched people get on and it took off again. I think he was surprised at how big and loud the train actually was! While we were sitting there listening to him be excited we heard the sound of another train whistle in the distance so we sat a little longer. Sure enough another passenger train came roaring through! It was then time to get them back across the track and loaded into the truck.

The kids have done really well so far. We've stopped for the night at a Quality Inn appx half way to their home in Alabama. We stopped and ate lunch, had dinner here at the hotel, and now the kids are trying to fall asleep despite all their excitement!! I hope tomorrow goes as smoothly as today did!

PA Trip

We took a mini vacation to G-ma and Pop-Pop's in PA for the holiday. The kids were so excited to go... So excited that they wouldn't stop asking us if we were there yet!! Wow was that annoying! But we got there safe and sound and the kids even got to ride their bikes on Pop-Pop's road!
We actually realized during this ride that Jaycob does in deed need a bigger bike. So off to Wal-mart we went! Though we bought it in PA he never did really get to ride it so I have no pictures. But he loves his new big red bike!

We also got a chance to go visit Great Grandma for her birthday where the kids chased bubbles with Cousin L!

Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

Yep, we went to the zoo! We drove up to the Metro in a line with a couple other moms from our area only to meet up at the zoo with about 10+ more moms from other areas! We got to actually ride the Metro which I think was the kids favorite part, though it made me realize how much of a country girl I really am. All the mess of the Metro, I was completely lost! Thankfully, we had someone with us that does it often! Ok now to the pictures because I know thats all you really care about!

Riding the Metro with Breanna (her and Jaycob skipped school to make this trip!)

Awaiting everyone to gather and kids to use potties before we head off to see some animals!!

Some Flamingos for Pop-Pop! And the tiger!
Lion and kids with a tiger!

If you look really close the mama in the second picture is holding a tiny baby!

I loved this picture of a handful of the kids we went with!

Fast Track to Nowhere

We went to the train park near Cousin L's house after bowling. Jaycob really enjoyed seeing the train and walking on the track.

Grandma's Blog

I noticed this morning that Grandma has posted a couple blog post about our trip to Michigan this last week.

I have yet to even get the pictures uploaded off of my camera. Soon as I do I will be sure to post. Until then go and check out Adventures With Grandma.

Somewhere New

Well, today we went somewhere nice and new! On the way there we crossed a RR track and noticed a train coming so we turned around so Jaycob (and Abygail) could see a real live train. I think he was actually quite shocked at how big, fast, and loud a real train is!!
Once at our fun destination the kids had a blast!! These cars were a huge hit! I think they all took turns pushing and riding.

At some point Abygail discovered this room with dress-up clothes. She's never really had real outfits to put on before so she had a blast with this! These are all her choices as outfits!
After a bit of the cars and dress-up the kids went shopping!! Both the kids loved this cash register. I guess we'll have to invest into one of these!
Then came a ride, dinner, and a show!
A bit of creative exercise! They pulled these stools from the other end of the room, lined them up, decided to walk across them!!
Of course being the older brother, Jaycob had to cause trouble of some sort or another. As Abygail was walking across them Jaycob pushed them out of her way. But then it was all fun and games after that!!

Children's Museum

Today we went to the Children's Hands On Museum with Grandma, Aunt A, and Cousins E and S. Jaycob and Abygail have never been to a place like this before. Our children's museum in our area has been closed for quite some time and they say it won't open again until fall of 2009!!! So we were just thrilled at the opportunity to visit this children's museum!!

Abygail LOVED sitting in the ambulance. I just thought this picture of Cousin E was too cool!

All the kids were pretty amazed with this harp. Abygail of course wandered over and played by herself once the crowds left!!

The kids spent quite a bit of time in this old county store. Between the register, the money, the food, and obviously the heating radiator for Cousin S this room was hard to resist!

I really wish we could get something like this at home!

Jaycob would have spent all his time at this little thing if he had his choice. Each time you pushed the button the penguin would step up another step. Once he got to the top he would slide down the slide and it would start all over again! And Abygail kept returning to these magnets! Though she spent quite a bit of time with this sand writer too!

The toddler room was such a huge hit and we spent the majority of our time here. Of course the water table was a favorite among all the children. There was also a separate table where the kids could spray and scrub this HUGE rock. You'd be surprised how a rock, a spray bottle, and a dish scrubber can draw the children in!

Look at Abygail's facial expression!! I wish I knew what she was thinkin'. Jaycob and Cousin E kept coming back to the fire truck, taking turns who would drive or who would wear the hat (even though there were more then a few available!)

And last but not least... In this room we thought Jaycob would love the train table, but he quickly found it too boring and moved on to other things. This is what he spent his last remaining time doing. You pushed that big red button to the left of him and it would suck these shape pieces to the board. He thought it was great and spent a lot of time thinking about the shape, color, and size that he was going to place up there next!
